Aerospace students @ TP

Check out the Temasek Aerospace Programme, offered by Temasek Polytechnic.

Diploma in Aerospace Electronics (JAE code: T50)
Diploma in Aerospace Engineering (JAE code: T51)

As far as i know, this is the only Aerospace training programme offered by any polytechnic in Singapore, which come with these 4 features:

a) Direct credits given leading to the professional Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) certification. Hence, students can get their AML much sooner.

b) The first Poly (and as far as i know, the only one) which is offering aerospace curriculum training approved by Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) under the new SAR-66 standard

c) Temasek Poly is home to Singapore’s newest Aerospace Training Centre — ie the dedicated Lufthansa Training Centre (LTT) is in Temasek Poly campus.

d) Expert instructors from Lufthansa provide the training at the LTT aerospace training centre.

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to help promote my diploma for the JAE admission exercise. Well I don’t know about the others but my CP volunteered me to help attract ‘O’ level school leavers into my course.

Well during the day, I must say the students I spoke to there all seem really keen on entering TP, and some had already made up their minds on what courses they want. I even spoke to one who lives all the way in Bukit Gombak who had come to TP to specially check out a few courses. I was helping out in the afternoon shift, and had spoken to a number of ‘O’ level through the course of my shift and by 2.30pm, was feeling proud of being part of an educational institution that is Temasek Polytechnic.

Never have I see so many students so keen on enrolling with Temasek Polytechnic that it made me feel a little sad on thinking that I’ll be graduating soon. But of course, that feeling only lasted the afternoon. I’m very excited about continuing with the rest of my life journey with the diploma TP has bestowed upon me.

The industry better keep an eye out for Temasek Polytechnic graduates that are going to climb up the corporate ladder, as a whole new batch of us are graduating real soon!

O level results - my cousin FINALLY decided (Part 10)

Filed under: Academic subjects, Admission into TP, Aunty Agony - Help me!

those of u following this case i been blogging about….  i think this should be the end of my cousin’s agony… (and my too)

 he finally decided…  he has filled up his JAE form, the top 5 choices as follows: (despite my advice against it.)

1st: Aviation Mgt & Svs @ TP (T04)

2nd: Aerospace Electronics @ TP (T11)

3rd:  Mechatronics (Aerospace Engineering) @ TP (T06).

4th: ETCM @ TP (T05)

5th: Aerospace Electronics @ SP (S90)

6th: Aerospace Electronics @ NP

i told him not to put T04 as first choice, cos his aggregate is 17 pts… and last year T04’s cut off was 11 pts.. i think he’s just wasting his first choice.. damn stupid boy!!..

anyway, his reasoning is, i just put, even if can’t get, then he is happy to settle for course T11.

but i told him, that is not the case, your first choice must be somethign that is ACHIEVABLE… cos if u miss the first choice, it is not guarantee that you will get the 2nd choice.  He may end up with 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th.. i dun noe.. really.

anyway, he said he’s game to take the risk..  no brains…

i just hope he can at least end up in TP, where im now….cos dats wat he wants..

if he gets his 5th choice and got to travel 1.5 hours each day to SP, then i laugh my heart out… ha.  so bad, i know, but he won’t listen to my advice..

let’s wish him good luck to him….

if he make it to TP, he promised to join our blogging team. !!

update u guys again when posting results are out!  hang in there.

 Good luck, everyone, who are invovled in JAE… !

wow fri’s and sat’s jae was tiring. Quite a number of people came and those that i attended to most wanted to go to ams. But AMS’s cut-off is quite high, 11, haiz. But then some still wanted to try…so ok lor. But our job is to ensure that the JAE applicants are brought to the rite place or their course counselling. But i haf to admit it was tiring i was standing the whole afternoon of frin and whole day of sat. Have to talk quite alot when encounter applicants, otherwise standing under the hot sun to wait for ppl to arrive.

Hope that the potential tp engine students have a great time.

Regarding SP aerospace.

I cannot deny the fact that SP aerospace is rather stong in its foundation

visit this link

but TP is still the best although the SP Diploma in Aeronautical course is accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. Aeronautical engineering technologists qualify for credit towards 11 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer basic examination subjects.

Look at the below statement..

“No Polytechnic Course is currently granted exemptions under SAR 66.” — this statement by SP is an understatement. TP has it too, although only 9 papers but TP have collaborated with Lufthansa and soon a training center is going to develop in tp.

Check out what TP offers and the upcomming devpt in collaboration with lufthansa.

Diploma In Aerospace Avionics

“This programme aims to develop knowledgeable and enterprising young professionals who will be able to apply their skills in the field of aerospace avionics technologies, in particular, aircraft electrical systems, instrumentation, avionics and sensors. You will be adept in the art of problem solving and become effective learners in the ever-evolving arena of this high-tech industry.”

See this Link

Still if u wanna go RP i suggest not, cause compared to TP and SP
RP doesnt provide you with CAAS paper which both school provides. U see, in accordance Air wothiness/ Air Law to get an AML- Aircraft Maintainence license cert u need to sit a set of papers and TP allows to take 9 of them. Very lucky for your batch. Whats more they got a data bank which contains pass year CAAs papers for u to practice.
Tp want every students to pass. So as long as u r close to the lecturers theyll help u in passing ur CAAS papers.

Regrdin Aerospace Option

Actually by right yr cousin should be the one researchin on this oh well nvm… allow me to explain

About The Course (JAE Code: T06) see this link

I recommend TP because the lecturers here are very good and funny esp if you get Mr Dexter.

This option is offered to students only for the April intake of each year. The entry into this option is by merit and vacancies. Usually those pple who are interested in aespace and got in are those similar like yr cousin…

In the first year, the course begins by equipping students with a solid foundation in fundamental engineering knowledge and skills in mechanical, electronics and computing systems.

In the second and third year, the Aerospace Engineering Option will enable students to specialise in aerospace engineering subjects and also work on aerospace engineering related projects during their final year.

In addition, the curriculum will also prepare students for six important Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s examinations, which is a step towards obtaining the Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML). The AML is a prerequisite qualification for many professionals working in the aerospace industry.

Students taking the Diploma in Mechatronics (Aerospace Engineering) course will undergo specialised training in the following subjects:

* Engineering Materials
* Aerospace Physics
* Aviation Legislation & Human Factors
* Gas Turbine Engine
* Basic Aerodynamics

This course is highly recommended for those who wish to build a challenging and rewarding career in the lucrative aerospace industry upon graduation.

O level results - my cousin still havent decide.. (Part 9)

those of u following this case….. here’s an update.

my cousin, he scored 17 pts, and still not decided…

all his planning, formula and wat not, all thrown to the wind..  stupid idiot.  he say he wan to join me in TP, but yet, yesterday, he went down to SP JAE in d morning, then afternoon he went to RP to ask ard…

and today he’s going to NP.  i scolded hm for wasting his time… There is really no point going round the world asking this and dat… IT ONLY CONFUSES YOU MORE!!

my advice is just look at the course u wan, ur interest, and look at COP.  if ur points qualify, then consider one last factor — distance.  Be practical.

myself is living proof.  my first semester i was at SP, but i live in d east.  every morning gotta wake up b4 i see the sun, travel time 1.5  hours per day, can sleep in the bus sia. (if u can get a damn seat, that is…).

my second semester, i switch /transfer to TP… i live in the east.  Breeze.  half an hour reach liao.  go home also easy.  of cos bus still crowded lah, but i saved 1 hr.

my cousin also live in d East… i dunno wat the hell he’s going round the island visitng every poly… mad.

 he’s still looking ard.. it will never end.  You see, i have been blogging 9 Parts for this case liao.  sorry u guys, i just boring u on and on..

it will end when my cousin make his choice ultimately…. and i suspect it will not be until monday closing time !!!

now he’s asking me what is the diff between Aereospace diploma offered by SP, NP, and Aerospace options offered by TP……

my dear AE frens at TP, pls help me answer him…

 thx, jesline.
