ever heard of rock climbing, wall climbing and mountain climbing so have u heard of tree climbing???

well singapore held it first tree climbing competition at Dhoby Ghaut . participant using rope and saddle, theywere seen pulling themselves up skilfully. there were over 20 participants took part in Singapore’s first tree climbing competition.

The participants are judged on their footwork and poise and are also awarded points each time they reach a new target.

The competition was divided into three categories — men, women and foreign workers. The winners will walk away with a cash prize of S$1,000 and a medal.

this look fun rite, when normally we talk about tree climbing we will onli thot of monkey and never thot of it as a sport. now in singapore they seemed to be promoting this sport i think soon we might see  this as CCA in tp. haha.

anyway saw this new in TODAY(as in the name of the newspaper) and thot of sharing with u all. a singaporean TRAINEE pilot make a dramatic landing on sept 5 when his plane’s landing gear fail( u might be thinking, how to land sia, no landing gear the plane might just explode).

well this trainee oso thot of this problem so he spend two hours circle the airport to burn off the fuel in preparation for a dangerous STUNT that even a experienced pilots never tried before much less him a ROOKIE. this type of landing they called belly-landing.

well, so just before his landing, he cut off the engines( i think just a precaution cos it might reali explode but w/o power how the plane move?) and the plane skidded before it halt.

cool rite, it is success. but anyway this incident happen in australia not in singapore. but i think after all it is reali cool cos from the new stated he was all alone in the plane so he have to made his own decision and he is still a newbie so well smart. hehe ”) 

I finish the first and second days of my DRP (differential research program) at AS research centre. Ok. The first day is pretty boring as it is mostly on the briefing and introducing the equipments that we gonna use, the instructions issued by my supervisor, and the explanation on what we have to do.

I am doing on the TCM, which is chinese traditional medicine, DNA fingerprinting. The people in my group are pretty friendly, the ASC students. And the lab…wow! It is totally different from the labs in engineering school for BIE students. There, their equipments are much more updated and we even have to sterilize the instruments , wear gloves all the time and even have to be careful not to touch the other sample after you touch the first sample as you will contaminate it or else..? Redo of cos!

And in my own BIE lab session, the techician will be the one to help us prepare everything and make the chemicals for us. But here, we have to wash and sterilize the instruments ourselves which take like 2 to 3 hours and also making the gel (for DNA run) ourselves. And becos of that, I am starting to appreciate my TSO more. hahahaha. Cos’ it is hard to prepare myself as you have to be very precise and ensure that it is not contaminated or expired.

They are pretty strict there…like, once, my friends got scolding from one of the staff there for leaving their lab coats in the non-lab room as he said our labcoats are “contaminated” and onli can put in the lab itself or else put the lab coat in the plastic bag. And wearing gloves at all times. Even when we have to pluck the leaves from the herb garden, we have to either wear gloves and pluck, or use sissors and clean it wif 70% of alcohol before cutting the plant. When doing something that to do with chemical or DNA, we cant talk, or else the saliva DNA will contaminate with the DNA of the plany samples.  They are realli strict on hygiene .

But luckily, my supervisor is really very patient though and he speaks Japanese better than mandrin cos he studied in Japan for 15 years (cool rite?) and a little of english. At least, my group is lucky to have him as he still helps us by demostrating how to do when I heard other supervisor of the DRP expect the students to already know what to do.

I’ll post the pictures on the plant samples that we gonna research in my next post, and if can, i’ll even upload the pictures on the labs that we using. =)

I was celebrating my friend’s birthday yesterday. It was a normal birthday celebration, i think. You know stuff like birthday cake and then play around at my friend’s house. Only thing was that i had to stay longer at my friend’s house because of the rain.
I guess having people know that it is your birthday thus willing to celebrate with you, won’t you be happy? I think you will.(beats celebrating alone)

my god…did anione felt the tremble yesterday morning and the night before yesterday!! my god..my hse area felt it… at the night 7 plus and yesterday morning..my god…it was like so giggle la…haas… =) felt everything moving..my lights was like moving from eft to right..and so is my doorS! haas.. =) oh my god!!!

 hmm..start work 2 wks liaoz..wahh…. super er xin ah..gt OT and stuff..so tired lo =) hmm…but..yes… must haas..see the money come in lo!! haas.. yeahh..but it was tired..

 hmm…result is out..oh my god..is super er xin de la..haikz..my gpa drop liaoz..haikz..sad laa.. hmm.. =(
