MP / SIP
Its no fun coming back to school during school holiday/semester break. Hahaha..
My group has been selected to showcase our project during the Engineering Week at NYP. So,we have to work extra diligently to finish it up before October. I really mean finish it up, with the housing and all..
Besides that, we still have to improve on the current working board and add some more features to the GUI(Graphical User Interface).
Oh man, my engine kinda slowed down. My brain kept on insisting that it is a HOLIDAY afterall. Hahaha.. but I have to go against that thought.
So, jia you LOOKFRESHER!!

MP / SIP
hi people, im back.
its been a hectic month for me last month. my MP/SIP attachment just ended last week.
attaching in microsoft was a great exposure to myself. other than the free drinks benefits given, the staffs there were very helpful and friendly. i definitely miss the chatting sessions with them in our workroom when we are tired or bored. they were all nice people and willing to share their experiences with us.
i suggest that if students whom are doing their MP/SIP soon, do fight for the opportunity to be attached outside rather than doing in-house attachment. students get to expose to outside world more and get to feel the working life better. Other than the reporting hours everyday, students are able to learn to be responsible of themselves, as well as being independant without their school supervisors around to help them about with their projects.
its really a good experience working there. i love it. in my previous entry, i post something about being stress and time management, now everything is over. reports are done. presentations are done. its really not easy handling so many projects at a time. unlike those lucky ones, sticking just to one project for whole MP/SIP period. be contented.
Should an adopted son be treated differently from a biological son?
Three days ago, my ex-boss from my internship programme called three of us out for coffee at McCafe. My internship was in Vietnam, where I was attached to various sectors including an Eduation depatment, where taught English to toddlers. She bought us coffee and we discussed her company’s business progress, received the Vietnamese students’ Teachers’ Day gift to us, and talked about her sons.
My ex-boss has an interesting mix of citizenship in her famiy and her hidden motives always intridged my boyfriend because they always appeared compassionate at first glance. We enjoyed deciphering her actions, scratching the surface to understand how she planned, from the start, to benefit from a seemingly act of goodwill. The petite, Vietnamese woman is the Centre Director of her expanding company. She is married to an Australian husband, who is the HR director of an established IT corporation. They tried conceiving for a decade before submitting to thoughts of adopting a child. They eventually adopted a young teenage son from Vietnam and the entire family settled in Singapore as Permanent Residents frequently flying to Australia and Vietnam respectively to manage their businesses. Half a decade later, she found herself pregnant and gave birth to, what they called, a “miracle son”. While the adopted son was reserved and rather spend his time alone painting and singing choir, their biological son was outspoken, amicable, sensitive to people’s feelings and sporty. From her conversations, she showed extreme favourism in her biological son, gushing about him and taking him to places, whereas mentioning the adopted son only when required to answer questions.
So, it puzzled us when over coffee, she requested for one of the gregarious ex-interns to specially tutor her adopted son’s English and get him to open up, showing concern over his introverted behaviour and offering to pay the tuition fees. The ex-intern agreed to her request for free, hoping to help. When the ex-intern met up with the adopted son the following day, he turned out to be outspoken and friendly and begged the ex-intern to watch ‘Evan Almighty’ with him because his family were watching it without him. At this point, we realised that the Vietnamese ex-boss had simply wanted her adopted son out of the way on a Saturday so that she needn’t pretend to entertain his existance in the presence of her husband and family. Money was not a problem to her, all it costed the wealthy boss were a few cups of iced blended McCafe coffee and Teachers’ Day gifts of lip glosses from The Body Shop to sew us into her plans.
Cases of mistreatment and abuse of an adopted child vary from families to families, and in this case, it was isolation from the only family he knew.
Please knock.
Have you ever strolled innocently along some quiet street and caught a couple having sex in a deserted corner, or accidently walked into a bedroom when your married cousins are making love?
This morning, i was scurrying around the house looking for a yellow page directory book when i turned a knob that would bring upon me a lifetme consequence. Before I realised it, I found myself intruding into an intimate session, witnessing a scene that most teenagers worldwide had described as “traumatizing”. Shocked, I turned to head for my room and locked the door behind me.
A moment later, my mum came in to ask what I was looking for. She spoke to me for a moment before handing me the directory book. Hidden beneath our casual expressions and frowns were clear embarrassments.
In different approaches on the act of having sex or watching it gathers many contrasting responds from teenagers varying on the situation. I guess when teenagers surf for pornography, watch them on DVD, or act upon it, it was a premeditated choice made by them so there’s little embarrassment or trauma. However, when an act or a scene is forced upon them intentionally or by accident, it can be difficult to swallow.
I think I’ll try to avoid my parents for the rest of the week, and meet a friend later for counseling. Its quite an expensive lesson to learn to knock on my parents’ door before entering.
